To do this you obviously need a new drive you want to install (it MUST be a 2.5" drive, a 3.5" drive cant fit internally it must be external using a sata cable and a separate power source)

I used a drive i pulled from a Seagate #SRD00F1

Need a set of Precision screwdrivers(a set from harbor freight works fine and is only 5$

Also need the recovery firmware of 4.55(or whatever firmware your ps4 has on it)

You will have a small gap (around 1/8") at the back of the console right where the drive sled is due to the metal frame bulging some. its completely un-noticeable unless your looking for it.

Also here is how to remove the security torx screws if you dont have the bit. take a small flat head (mine is one from a cheap harbor freight precision set it is stamped with 2.0 and it fits perfectly) and put it in the screw the same way that is shown in red here:

can i upgrade my 500gb to 4tb ?

only 4tb 9mm that exists is the 4tb ssd (samsung)

there are many videos (google them) that show how to bend your case to fit a 15mm 2.5" (and you can use a 5TB in this case)
