Upgrading Ext HDD to bigger ext hdd

I apologize if this was asked before.
I am looking to Upgrade my 4TB Ext HDD to 8TB Ext HDD. i need to migrate all the information from the 4TB to 8TB. My PS4 has 5.05 firmware.
what is the best way to go about doing this?

This is what I'm doing right now, and it's a pain.
I copy everything I can to system storage and use easypkgextractor for the rest.
After that I reinstall on the new extended storage. Fortunately, I kept 3TB of pkgs on other hard drives. There is no simpler method to my knowledge.

yeah, that sounds like it would be a lot of pain.
what if i was to Clone the 4TB drive to 8TB drive. with HDD cloning application.
Has anyone tried this method?
 
Pretty sure that's not possible. The hard drive is formatted to the PS4, you can't just plug it in a PC and expect it to work the PC will tell you to format it as well.

I apologize if explanation of my intent was confusing.
I currently have 4TB as a extended system storage not as a extended internal storage.
I wanted to upgrade this 4TB of extended system storage to 8TB HDD.
I realized that this external HDD has no internal system files involved so i decided to just try transfer the files from my 4TB to my new 8 TB HDD and it worked perfectly. Sorry about the confusion and thank you very much for your effort to help me out!

How did you do that? I need to upgrade as well. DIdn't think I could because my external just has fake pkgs. Did you update through settings?
 
Mayhab he formatted the drive to psformat simply attached both harddrives and used either ftp to transfer, or that explorer program on the console itself :). It's a pain either way :biggrin:
