Just so we are all up-to-date on what im running, 1st gen switch day 1, 10.0.3|AMS 0.14.1|E, incognito (latest as of junish), i update via atmo updater 0.6.3 and before doing so tinfoil/hbgshop and paper mario was working perfectly fine. i tried downloading smash bros and when i opened the app it would read:

[!] unable to start software.
Return to the HOME menu and try again.

ive deleted the game and tried reinstalling; same ending.

so then i decided to delete tinfoil and reinstall files to sd card, used the tinfoil installer via homebrew menu and that works fine. i reboot then open the app only to be greeted with 'unsable to start software'. im pretty confident updating my sigpatches killed paper mario and tinfoil and now im stuck.

if i can get some help id greatly appreciate it. tia

yeah deff an area for dori to help with, im an sx user and proud of it for situations like these lol. mind you if i was on atmo i'd prob still be on ver 7 :roflmao:

try using goldleaf to install

for everyone else reading this. just because atmosphere got updated to version 0.14.1 DOES NOT MEAN you should update
If its not broken DONT TRY TO FIX IT.

now as per your problem. you DO NOT NEED AMS 0.14.1 specially if you are still on CFW 10.0.3/

your BEST option is to download AMS 0.13.0 again and apply old sigpatches.
should be quick and easy to fix.

if you need links let me know

here is a link for working sigpatches

as far as sx os you are lucky you arent using that garbage you would be bricked and in deeper trouble.

good news, i followed your patches and deleted tinfoil then resused the forwarder and now tinfoil works. the bad news i reformatted my sd card out of desperation and racked my brain up. next time ill be patient lol. thanks for the fix, dorian!!

what got me messed up is the smash didnt want to work and i figured it was in need of sigpatch. next time ill know better.

Pretty much this. Learned it from the hard way as well lol. Small incremental updates of official switch firmware are for mostly for minor bugfixes. And atmo has to follow up the current version for the sake of stability. Nintendo mostly releases major version bumps (eg 9.x to 10.0) if they're going to release a new game that they've developed. If you start to see an error saying that you gotta update, that's when you u should update.

If it's an atmo update really changes something in a good way, you probably won't miss it as it'd be announced pretty much everywhere.

And the best solution to fix any type of non-working switch cfw/nsp/nro is to reinstall including the hidden files - if there are any. For the best convenience, I've created a copy of a fresh install with sigpatches and my most used NRO's backed up on pc. So if there's anything wrong I just delete the sd and drag them again.

Not sure how effective the Atmosphere updater tool you're using, especially when making a transition between versions with two drastically different implementation.

But coming from Atmosphere that is older than 0.14.0/0.14.1 to this stated latest version, I encountered an issue with the shift, even when doing so manually. As it appears, the issue boils down to leftover files from the older version which goes in conflict with 0.14.0/0.14.1.

As for sigpatches, I would normally update it manually as well.

Overall, I did not encounter an issue with Atmosphere 0.14.1 running installed games since having updated both Atmosphere and sigpatches manually.
