Tutorial Tutorial: Repack and Remarry Game updates for base game

How can I repack the update with the base game?

to repack an update and re-marry it to your base game :
1) you'll need first to unpack the 1.06 update with orbis-pub-chk (passcode = full of 0)
2) you will get two folders (image0 and sc0)
3) you must rename Image0 folder as CUSA03842-patch
4) you put the content of the Sc0 folder in CUSA03842-patch\Sce_sys folder.
5) you put your base game in the same folder as CUSA03842-patch (same folder not in it, so at the root)
6) you launch gengp4 as always to point to the CUSA03842-patch folder to make the .gp4
7) you launch orbis-pub-gen , you load the .gp4 file created, then you make the pkg by clicking on "Build", and the update will be made and married to your base game.
8) you install this pkg (so your own 1.06 update) on your ps4, then install all the dlc, and enjoy

Warning : even if your version is the same CUSA as mine , the update will only works if you re-mary it with your base game(1.0) (because of different dumps and md5).
your base game must have the correct name (if you don't know it, orbis-pub-gen will make an error and shows you the correct filename it needs)


Example for resident evil 7 : the correct base game name for the EUR version (CUSA0382) is :
EP0102-CUSA03842_00-BH70000000000001-A0100-V0100.pkg

would this work with a base game of lets say CUSA12345 (1.00) and an update for CUSA54321 (1.10) to make the update work for CUSA12345 (=> 1.10)?
(Eventually editing the param.sfo and nptitle.dat)

well i've tried it some times ago, it's a russian roulette, i mean , sometimes it can work, sometimes no, and yeah you must edit some files to modify the CUSA number by another one

But as i've said, sometimes it can works, sometimes no, depends what the patch content is (for example different languages,....)

Do you mean we put the entire game .pkg or just the game fodler after a dump along side it in so you would have CUSA03842.pkg & CUSA03842-patch(folder) in a folder or CUSA03842(Folder) & CUSA03842-patch(folder)

First option you told is right,
You need to use the entire game.pkg of your base game

Like for example EP..............-A0000-V0100.pkg

Use an hexadecimal editor , there is a lot of Them for free available on the web

Is the Update offical one? if so, i have downloaded the official update for game,but when I use orbis-pub-chk, the pass code shows nothing ,then I put all 0, but it said mismatch... I still don't know how to update these backup games... please help, thanks

hi,
in fact you can't update a fpkg game with an official update, because of course the official update has an unknown passcode , only the fakepkg has a passcode full of 0
so, the procedure is working with a retail game only (psn or cd) , then you update your official game with an official update and you dump game and patch

Well, I never had 4.05. FW is 5.05 and the game package I am trying to install is 4.05. ANy game under 5.05 that I install, I get error message CE-36244-9

I go to Help, select 5.05, select HEN, go to DEbug, install pkg, it installs halfway through and stalls with error message. I don't have problems with installing pkgs released for 5.05.

nvm, I copied pkg file on to another thumb drive and it installed fine. Thanks for all the replies.

Great tutorial, but "remarry"? I'm not an expert, but doesn't it mean "to be marry again"? It should be repack update or re-create update.

What if I have several DLC and Updates for one game (Assassins Creed Origins has a ton of DLC and Updates).
Which steps are different ? How does the ''marry'' work when I have more than 1 Update or DLC.
I'm kinda confused and only know how to get it to work with a single update.
