Hold down X and TRIANGLE after you launch the game on PS4, basically as soon as the "PlayStation 2" black screen appears, hold the two buttons until the menu asking for progressive scan appears.

My controller doesn't work. It brings up the Progressive Scan menu when I hold X and Triangle but afterwards all I can view is the opening sequence and "Press Start" screen. None of my buttons work.

Same for "Def Jam fight for NY" game. Can't start game. Cable is connected to the controller and I tried both ports.
Do I have to use the older PS3 controller for these games?

I'm afraid I don't really have a solution for you, the game works perfectly fine on my DualShock 4, no issues whatsoever and no, you don't need older controllers to play ps2_emu titles.

I'm a colossal idiot! I thought the options button was the Start button from PS3. Turns out, it's the large middle button or surface's right side that serves as the start and left side as the select button(pushing them together resets you back to title menu in TK4)

Thanks for bearing with my stupidity guys!

!!! Hahaha, whoops :D :D My apologies, I thought that was common knowledge, but I'm very glad you've got it working now then \o/
