SX Core Mariko Options

Owner of an SX Core Mariko console here. It's my understanding that there is a stigma around using both SX OS and/or Tinfoil and I have noticed it's really hard to get support with issues. Most of the time, searches yield guides/suggestions to use Goldleaf and Atmosphere.

As a Mariko console owner, what are my options if I want to start using some more open source software? It sounds like there are a lot of different ways to brick a Mariko console currently and would really not like to take any risks since my console does what it is supposed to for the most part. However there is always a fear of a lack of support as time goes on for SXOS and future switch updates. I fear getting into a situation where I be forced to update my firmware version beyond 10.2 and will have no options to do so.

10.2.0 is the perfect place to be right now until April next year, so don't worry to much just yet. Tinfoil should work perfect with SXOS, as it was Blawar's OS of choice at one point, you can still use Goldleaf or Awoo as well, they do exactly the same job, minus the stores feature. I'm under the understanding that it's possible to have Atmosphere installed on the SX Core right now too, something to do with SX Core being hacked and modded or something, I'm sure another member can elaborate on that, as I don't use SXOS.

Hello from the other side of the world people. Hope everyone's doing fine. Now in the next year of January I'm getting a mariko switch the animal crossing version. Now I want to mod it via the sx core chips. After that can someone help me how to install all the homebrew software and so on. Also there was an app using which one can connect his ps4 controller. Will the sx core modded switch support that homebrew?
Thank in advance everyone :) :)

This is what I recommend: Do not attempt to do anything right now to your mariko unit. stay on your current firmware and even if an update comes along DO NOT try to do anything as it may mess up your jailbreak. Your (and everyone else) is good for at least another 6 months.

Gold leaf will work on sx os and its the best option as it does NOT NAG like tinfoil does when installing NSP and updates.
on firmware 10.2.0 I dare to say you have at least a year before you update( why do i say this? because gold leaf+ @African does a great job at uploading NSP to work with lowered firmware version)
You could even have both tinfoil and also gold leaf at the same time. it really does not matter what you use to install the game it will work fine.
The atmoshpere dev is looking into the Mariko jailbreak and has made significant progress. If or when there is an update I might post a guide.

A guide would be awesome. I initially installed that chip in my switch so that I could run homebrew and backup my Animal Crossing saves (Makes no sense you can only have 1 island), but it sucks because it feels like everything I want to use has the potential to brick my switch. Luckily JKSV works now so I can at least backup my animal crossing saves.

So GoldLeaf should work on my Mariko no problems and no risk of bricking?

Goldleaf is perfectly fine, I prefer it over Tinfoil, you can install games with no problems and even transfer games from your PC via Usb with Quark. And it 100% won't brick your Switch, in fact, 99% of apps are safe, especially if you've got them off this site, as they are checked prior to being uploaded, for your safety.

99% of apps are safe

The problem is that it feels like that isn't true for Mariko switches. A lot of it has to do with apps not being updated to run properly on the v2 switches yet so I'm always walking on eggshells. I am unable to put themes on it for risk of bricking, I can't use ChoiDujourNX for updating/downgrading, apparently the switch overclocking utility has bricked mariko switches, and the list goes on.

It feels a lot different than when I modded my Wii/3DS, I don't feel like I'm having as much fun because I can't freely run homebrew without a serious risk of damaging something. I can't wait to see the scene catch up to the Mariko switch version for sure.

100% will be downloading GoldLeaf though now that I know it works fine. I have been having issues with Tinfoil lately and I always prefer the open source options.
