I currently use an 80GB hdd to transfer pkg files to my ps4 and it can be a pain if I have two or more games I want to transfer to the ps4 because I have to do it one file (maybe two) at a time and its just really inconvenient. Most of the backups I download are between 20 to 40 GB's I was thinking about using ftp to transfer the pkg files to the ps4. I'm just wondering how long it takes to transfer files to the ps4 via ftp? I know it depends on my internet speed right now I usually get between 25-30 mbps.

I also want to buy a 4 TB portable hard drive and use it as extended storage, but I don't want to buy two portable hard drives one for transferring files and one to use as extended storage. Any suggestions are welcome and appreciated.

Thanks

To my knowledge you cannot install PKGs from the PS4 itself. They have to come from a external drive right now.
If everything is USB3.0 it shouldnt take longer than a couple of minutes to transfer this kind of data anyway.

I dont understand the second part of the question. You want to extend the internal HDD of your ps4? Then you have to buy 2 drives. One for extending the size, one for housing your PKGs.

Not sure why you want to transfer .pkg files to the PS4. It is easier to buy an external hard drive and connect it to the PS4 to transfer the games...or you can run the games from the external drive if you wish. FTP is your local area network in this case "Machine to Machine" so it does not even need an internet connection.
