PS4 RiPKiT/Modding/Cheat Tool by RiPPERD - UPDATED V1.5

there was another guide I've been trying to find which may be useful, it was a guide to insert unlimited mods into skyrim without it affecting trophies etc, i'm gonna try and find it later and will update with a link, i believe it mentioned editing the eboot, and mentioned changing skyrim.ccc to skyrim.txt

glad you're making headway, shouldn't be too difficult to add to your script to backup the param.sfo before the editing then restore it before patching/packaging the file.

out of curiousity where would you begin learning about this stuff?

i have tried making a cheat patch pkg for DR2 but its just not working i get error while installing the pkg file... been very busy lately as my bday and work etc. ill try and do it soon... once ive done it once i should be able to make my tool do it pretty easy.
just need to work out how to make these cheat pkgs so they actually work.

as for learning it i taught myself... the tool is a remake/mod of my original tools back in psp days when i made ripkits for psp and ps3 games.
the coding that makes this tool do what it does i found the command lines on google... played around with them and changed as i needed them.

im happy to help with some bits but i wont release my code as its been a WIP for a long time this tool took me quite a while to make and another user on here was helping test it

right i have found a cheat pkg file for uncharted that someone made... i can see the file structure so i SHOULD be able to mimic this and get my cheat patcher to work... i think i was modding the wrong version numbers

Just a thought

One of those links mentioned a hex editor if modifying the original package and none if modifying an update paclagr

Obv the original.pkg is the original package so a hex editor should be used (to match offsets? The reasoning wasn't clear on the post and no further explanation was given why a hex editor was needed)

On the plus side I downloaded the game again so will have another poke around, is there any way (via pm maybe) to have a look at a couple of files that should be changed that are easy to test early in the game (inf health for ex.)

See if we can figure it out together, personally speaking i think it might be offsets, changes between the porting from ps3 to ps4

cheers for the update mate... i have not had time to do any more stuff with ps4 lately been working loads and playing RDR2 on xb1 lol
i think i used the hex editor but i used it after i had already changed sfo file etc i know im so close to working it out its just something simple i missed.

as for helping yu via PM yeah sure no problem i was doing this with another user to make and test my tool before release.
from what i have seen the game files are all the same on ps4/ps3/pc for most games (not that ive looked in them all) so in theory any pc/ps3 mods CAN be made to work on ps4 depending on how these cheats work... i think the eboot.bin file is where you place the offsets but the eboot.bin for ps3 and ps4 will be different (at a guess)

all my mods are usually modded game files this way the game just thinks its normal and causes no errors

Missus is away with the little one for the weekend so will have a look tonight, not played rdr2 yet, will probably get around to it eventually but looks a decent game, not as much of a gamer as i used to be in the golden olden PSP days lol

so this tool makes a fpkg cheat to install on the ps4 ?

it can make cheat pkg files yes...

you download the original game
you make a copy of this game so you have original.pkg and ripped.pkg
now with the ripped.pkg you make changes to the game add cheats etc
now use my tool to make the files patch.RiPPERD and ripped.gp4
share these 2 files with other to share

that is correct but at the moment the tool doesnt make a cheat pkg only it makes a modded version of the full game....
so basically it wouldnt be classed as a cheat pkg its more a cheat modded game... i am working on adapting the tool but i cannot actually make a cheat pkg file myself let alone make the tool do it lol.

i can make the smaller cheat pkg files no problem but they just throw errors on either install or on game loading.... i have no idea what im doing wrong at the moment and family life and work have got in the way of me working on this at the moment... i think i curse myself as all my projects seem to end on V1.5 lol my next tool i make i will use V1.0.0 and V1.0.1 so i can make it for longer haha

Well hello there everyone... good to see this back up and running!

well my tool has come a long way since this was released... im working on a even newer version which i will release onto here when its out.

any progress of verson 1.6 ? i really want
will use the usual tools for extracting the pkg (my next version 1.6 will have this option for end users too)once pkg is extracted they will then make any changes/mods/cheats/rip files out etc

I try other programs to edit pkg but with no luck.

Found it, so after reading the updates i see that your program still cant open pkg, delete files and repack pkg, needs other ps4 tools to do that(like fake PKG tools and gengp4). Would be nice to have all necessary programs together! thks

its all in one tool mate...

originally it was for making ripkits, mods, cheats etc... then i added backport thing which works fine on full game pkg files and mainly base games i think from feedback.

to use it to mod files etc you will need to do this:

1. make a copy of your game file and call it ripped.pkg rename the original to original.pkg
2. extract the ripped.pkg using ps4 pkg viewer (now remove ripped.pkg if you have limited hard disc space)
3. make the changes yu want etc in these folders
4. use gengp4 to create the gp4 file
5. repack the ripped.pkg file
6. place these 2 pkg files into my app directory
7. run my app and click MAKE RIPKIT... let it do its thing (you will need 3x the game size free maybe)

after this you will have ripkit files which you can share with others so they can use your mods etc to mod their pkg files
they would need orginal.pkg (the game) and the ripkit files (you shared) and then run my app and click APPLY RIPKIT... then wait for it to do its thing

if it was backporting you were after let me know as i could do with another tester ill send you the version that makes smaller pkg files for you to share (backporting only, not adapted this into ripkit yet)

Good to see you're still working on this, been a while since I visited the thread, I'm guessing replacing files on GTA5 (textures etc) would probably work without issue, unfortunately I have limited time to test my theory

i'll download GTAV, see if the extracted files look similar to the PC version and if a simple character skin works (i've only recently figured out how to integrate updates thanks to JgDuff's tutorial so my guess is it'll be a similar process to change textures, least it seems that way with Fallout 4)
