I understand that we cant connect to ps4 servers on 5.05 for obvious reasons. However being the Fortnite is the only cross platform game I would imagine it should be possible to connect to fortnite servers while bypassing psn. Has this been investigated at all?

I believe that you can log on with your Epic Games account and therefore bypass any setup by PSN. The game doesn't require PS Plus to play so I think it would be fine.

when you urged to play games online why dont you buy another ps4 that can run 5.55 version or above and use it to play online

well it take time to make hamachi or another virtual lan run as base of ps4 server, just like wii today it can still online through wiimfi servers, and for today we have call of duty mw 3 that can play online without psnI have both but for those who do not it would be nice for a few games they could play online without restrictions
