I bought a PS4 for my dad (he's 89) and I jailbroke it, installed a bunch of games, and tested it. Everything was fine. I posted it to him and the first thing I did was get him to enter his wifi network password and then go to user guide to run Mira/Hen via Al Azif exploit page. (I'm not claiming I know what the hell I'm talking about, just know I did it before and it all worked fine :)

But I forgot to do the DNS settings thing, so the first time he tried, it just opened the user guide, rather than the Al Azif exploit page. So then I took him through setting the DNS stuff (he lives in Scotland, I'm in Wales, so I should say we're doing this over skype, and being 89, it's kind of painful for him!), but after doing this, when he tries to play a game, he gets a message saying "update required". This didn't happen before I posted it to him - everything was working fine. When he chooses "update later", the unit switches off.

Anyone know what's happened. Could the PS4 have somehow connected to some Sony server and detected something dodgy and changed the system in some way? Anything I can do (apart from reinstalling system software and starting from scratch, downloading the PKGs again and reinstalling them all over again?)

Maybe I should say it's 5.05.

Thanks for your help.

Thanks.

He's developed a late interest in computers and games and recently got addicted to Bejewelled. I'd like him to have the opportunity of seeing something like The Last Guardian! : )

Might wanna check with your dad to see if the ps4 is still on 5.05 as hasnt updated by accident.

goto on the ps4
settings
system
automatic downloads
system software updates (make sure this is un-ticked)

also delete the downloaded update.

cache the exploit and turn off the internet

edit: to delete the update watch this you tube vid www.youtube.com/watch?v=up7aivGuoW0
from about 8 min in it talks about deleting downloaded updates. via ftp
