Is Linux permanent or not?

I've seen alot of videos of people loading Linux on 5.05. But nobody has said anything if it is permanent or not. Specifically ps4 games like God of war or bloodborne. If I load Linux onto my PS4 Pro, will it still play PS4 games? If not, can it be reversed?

I would like to play steam games with Linux on PS4, but I'm not willing to give up the ability to play PS4 games at the same time. Please let me know if it' possible. Also I would like to see proof I'd it's not too much trouble, please?
 
No it's not .. and no you won't be able to run Steam games.


Linux running on a console is just a way to prove other code can run and more so a novelty. I was running Linux on a OG Xbox and a Wii... has no purpose and has no daily use. Just to show other code can run. Steam/PC games are made for Pc's. Even tho PS4 is x86 it is a modded x86 and PC games are not made to run on that hardware. Just like PS4 games don't run on PC(yet)

Check back in 15 years , maybe PS4 will run half-life 2 steam by then .. who knows - maybe possible but need people to make it work.

But in the end a old PC with a P4 and a Geforce 5200FX with 256MB Gram will run it better

You may want to look else where for a site that caters to helping people for now. not many here try to help. I am trying to change that and help the NOOBS, but I am only one man.

This is a great site for games and I am glad you was able to find your way here.

Maybe learn some more and come back and help people.

Not saying leave , please stay .. learn what is needed here as you go.

Sadly , this site is a hit and run for a lot of people.

Steam does run on Linux, it just needs tinkered, Anything can run on anything with the relevant tinkering (within reason ofc) It runs on PSXita im pretty sure, I have it installed and Steam is installed, but I havent tested it for myself as I cant get the internet working, but I have seen people playing CS:GO for example, It has wine built in, I am currently playing a Windows copy of Warhammer 40K Dawn of War - Dark Crusade!
 
just a quick note, If you cant get audio working through DS4 controller, you need a V2 Ps4 controller (Has a lightstrip across the top of the touch pad) I just figured that recently and it was working as soon as I tried it came up under device manager

Yeah well I never said Linux can't run Steam it does not run on PS4 Linux. I know about Wine. What I am saying is PS4 does not have supported drivers or proper development.

Why ask Questions if you " Think" you have the answers LOL. if you know how it work why ask question ? just try it and see what happens Buddy
 
I never asked anything mate, and the OS currently has 3D accel patches and there will likely be more stable builds of it , inc fedora 28, and is working on some games and not on others,. as far as I was aware. from what I have seen running on other devs / users posts.

if you had the not-so-worth-it amount of time, you could play pc games, but it requires a bunch of driver installing, and either way you don't get to keep it.
