How to speed up extraction speeds?

After downloading games, I've been shocked at the great length of time it takes to extract the files using JDownloader2. For example, right now, I have a 44GB file that is giving me an ETA of 18 hours and 53 minutes.

Is there anyway to improve these extraction speeds? Would it be quicker using 7zip? Or is this part of the process and I simply need to wait it out?

put rar/zip files on an ssd, then extract them from there, or choose extract location to another drive than the drive where rar/zip files are currently on.

Thanks for the info. That might be my problem as I'm trying to extract a file to the same USB Drive that the original zip file exists on!
