Okay, this is strange. Ace Combat 4 and Zero both save/load perfectly, but Ace Combat 5 does say "memory card may be corrupted" -- so I'm remaking the PKG now and will test a few things. That's the downside to having hundreds of games being tested, sometimes files get misplaced or shuffled around too much. Could just be, literally, a corrupted memory card I packaged in.

... or it could be an emulator issue and that's a doozie.

Don't delete your install though, just hold on to see if I can fix this with a patch :) And thanks for letting me know!

Okay, unfortunately I cannot seem to fix this for now. Patches, emulator configuration, new memcard files, different emulator templates... nothing seems to work. I'm sorry but I can't do anything at the moment. It's a "playable" game but without the ability to save and load, it's going to be a deeply frustrating experience :(

I'll keep looking into it, but I'm going to mark this with a warning for now.

Neither AC04 nor Zero have the same issue, and both are fully playable.

It was basically a choice between high-res graphics and strange, slight, sky texture/shader error... or PS2-level low-res graphics and fixed skies. We can't have both, at the moment at least, I'm sure there's a fix somehow :\

Yeah, unfortunately this was deleted. The sad thing is, there's really no point in playing it anyway - the game is all but effectively unplayable since you cannot save. At all. There's a glitch in the emulator and it prevents the game from saving/loading, it simply cannot read the memory card as anything other than corrupt.

I cannot fix it, despite trying quite extensively, so it's best to just let the thread die. I'm sorry. It would be a miserable experience trying to play this from start to finish without saving.

Official "PS2 Classics" release of Ace Combat 5 is perfect, as expected. No issues with cloud shaders, no issues with 2x2 up-res, and - most critically - no issues with saving or loading. Sadly, since the scene overlords are hoarding exploits, the chance of any of us being able to play this without updating to 6.x++ and losing homebrew/PS2PKG/etc is close to zero.

I guess I will have chance to relive this game once Ps4 reaches its end of life, higher firmware jailbreak supposedly releases at that moment just like PS vita scene by now ^^

Read the thread, maybe?

I believe that I read that Ace Combat 5 for PS$ isn't being emulated but was rebuilt to run on PS4. Hence, no new EMU with new kex regardless. Hope I'm wrong.
