Yeah i did actually try this but i couldnt get the generator to work properly... recently updated to win10 not sure if this is an issue?
well you tried... lol... we dont really need the russians anyway... they have access to same tools we have so we should be able to do it... had very hectic week with birthdays etc but ill have a look at it in mo... ill try doing a smaller game see what i can do takes less time to extract etc
i think your confused as to what both meanings are...
RIP/REPACK: is when files are removed to make end file smaller... some users re-encode movie files too as this makes a big difference in size... so instead of 1080p hd videos you get 480p files for example.
What your asking for is just a higly compressed file so instead of downloading 40gb game you download a 5gb file that you extract to the original 40gb file... this is just compressing files mate... no scene release groups will ever do this as it breaks scene rules... scene rules state that files released can only be in certain formats.
Back in the day it was ZIP only and then winrar came out and everyone jumped on that but scene rules stayed on ZIP so scene groups would use winrar to compress and split files at certain sizes then zip those and split again.... so you would unZIP then unRAR and this made them smaller.... then like you said freearc and others came out and they do mental compressions but not accepted or reliable enough yet for scene groups.
The main reason being if the end user has a crap computer they wont be able to unARC it as not enough ram, processor etc
