Hi guys my mate has a old HDD from his ps4 console which is 4.55 we were wondering if he went out and got a older console and chucked this HDD into and he didnt connect the console to the net and then used the 4.55 recovery .pup would this allow him to get that console to 4.55 or would it not work its just something we thought about while messing with my 5.05 console?

If that older PS4 has had a firmware higher than 4.55 than it will not work. The PS4 is not entirely dumb. It has a security chip that stores informaiton about the current/last firmware levels and will not accept any lower firmware once a higher version has been installed.

If he older PS4 however had 4.55 or lower then this will work :) . Why not go for 5.05 though? It so far has the most games, mods and etc.

yea i figured that it would ask for the 5.55 update if thats what the lastest firmware is on that console and his current console is on 5.56 and thats where the old HDD came from because he upgraded it like 2 years ago if not more looks like ill be telling him to go and have a shop around for a low firmware PS4 console then thanks for that man :)

just to be a pain whats your thoughts on the offline method with the ESP8266?

I don't have a ESP8266 and I don't really look forward to using it. I simply used Al Azif DNS, cached the exploit pages and disable Internet connection in the network settings. Works just as fine for me.

If I would be using hardware setups like the ESP8266 I would just pick one of my Raspberry Pis that are hidden away and not in use. Atleast I put them to use without buying additional hardware when I already have something that could work.
