I have 5.05 firmware ready to install to a new hard disk. Before I continue I just wanted to check :
I will have 1 disk with 5.05, the intent of playing around with Linux and steam etc
I will have the 1 disk with official firmware etc on.

Can I just swap these in and out as needed or is there some issue I need to be aware of, many thanks for any feedback.

It doesn't work like that for PS4. You can't freely swap internal harddrives on the PS4 back and forth.

Each time you swap, it does some internal checks and will want you to reinstall the firmware/OS.

Thanks very much, I suspected this was the case. I'll have to wait until I can pick up a second ps4 to give it a try then

if your ps4 is on 5.05 then you have no issues, linux installs to a usb drive not the system drive
