I believe you can no longer download updates for the ps4 once it jail broken. But if it has the disc you can download a retail update and update it with that and then dump the game? The updating in the ps4 scene is very dead, could this possibly work?

Be aware on this subject: retail PKG and retail update PKG don't mix with fake PKG and fake update PKG.
If you need to download retail updates for a console you can usually use ps4database.io and similar sites. They have updates collected there with links straight from Sony. All you need to do is download the chunks and join them to get the retail update file.

yeah this is what i was talking about. I originally thought that you had to buy the game some how, get the latest update for it, and then jailbreak your ps4 and dump it. Since i don't think you can unjailbreak your ps4 (you get banned if you try and login into psn right?), it made it seem like a very difficult process. I just realized that you can still update discs and dump them, it had just never occurred to me to dump them.

The jailbreak is not permanent. As you may know it will be gone after reboot and you have to reapply it everytime you start your PlayStation 4 again.
You could therefore login into PSN when not using any of the exploit playloads and not using any exploit DNS servers but this will need you to update the FW to the latest version. So your PS4 will become a normal PS4 and can no longer be jailbreaked after that.

I was not aware that it left without a trace. That's interesting. now if only i could hack my switch like this and not get banned

Well, not entirely without a trace. The games and such... all the things you installed are still there.
If you want to turn your PS4 into a normal one it is recommended to reinitialize the HDD so that everything gets deleted off it.
